This could be more than a common cold. The sneezing could indicate allergies which could then induce a common cold. The best thing to do right now is drink lots of WATER, try benadryl non-drowsy this will help with the symptoms, and you could also try astragalus root or Zycam (all of which are otc).
If you find that this is a re-occurring thing with you and the seasons, than I would suggest calling around and finding your local MD that does Immuno Therapy. This is a no shot allergy program that helps to boost your immune system against possible allergens. And by doing so, this will increase your immune system to common colds.
Good luck and remember to wash your hands!

Just make sure you drink plenty of liquids - at least eight glasses a day. Dehydration during an illness can make you feel worse and will prolong symptoms. There is a reason the Dr. always recommends plenty of fluids - flushes out your system, keeps the kidneys in good working order, and thins out the mucus that you need to cough up. Try it - you'll tell the difference. Hope you feel better SOON and enjoy your visit home!

Your looking for a quick fix? Sorry but it doesn't exist. Fluids, herbs, and sleep are your best remedy. Find something that relieves the runny nose so you can sleep.

Fore the sore skin around your nostrils you could use tissue paper soaked in eucalyptus oil instead of plain tissue paper to blow your nose. Dispose of tissue paper after each use.
