Okay, I would like to get a small tattoo. I'm not sure where though. I wanted one on my foot but everyone said it hurt so bad & that some didn't turn out, you have get them redone more, etc. So, I'm looking for a new place. I don't want it on my thigh or abdomen area b/c if I get pregnant in the future I don't want to run the risk of it stretching a lot. And I don't want it somewhere that I can't hide it. I want to be able to dress professionally and be able to cover it up if I want, I thought above my ankle but then that would be seen in any skirt I wore so I'm not sure. What are your suggestions? I hear that the closer to the bone the more painful and since I'm not in love with one spot I'm thinking I should pick one where it won't be that painful. Any ideas?

The shoulder/upper back might be a good option for you. You can cover it up with anything that has sleeves, and tattooing on the back is supposed to be less painful because of the thicker skin there.

I got mine on my lower back. I kind of had the same questions you did before I chose my spot. My reasoning was because it's hidden (I have a Corporate job and tattoos that are visible are not permitted), I think it's sexy and mainly because that is a spot that if I loose a lot of weight or gain over the years, it won't look bad at all. And if for some reason it does (excessive stretch marks) then it's still hidden :)
I have a pretty big tattoo right above my crack that extends from love handle to love handle, lol! It didn't hurt as bad as I heard it would. I think that just depends on your threshold of pain.

Hope that helps!

upper back.. but can be painful due to doing it by the shoulder blade.

I've got 4 tattoos.. one on my right shoulder (i think this would be best for you) one that goes all the way around my left arm (bicep/tricep) that baby was a joy and one on each inner forearm. Those last 2 were the least "painful" but then again they were the last 2 done.

so, go with a shoulder. easy to cover up and enough muscle that it won't hurt much.

When I got my tattoo, the artist told me I chose the perfect spot for a first time tattoo, my upper arm. Places like the small of your back, your ankle/foot, and ribs are the most painful places to get tattoos. You could always get it on your chest, it would be easy to hide.

Mine is on my left ankle. It is a band of roses. I can cover it up with socks if I want. In the summer I never cover it up. I receive sooo many compliments on it. I love it with sandals, and heels. I have had it for 9 years, and never once regretted getting it. It did hurt when the artist was inking on my Achilles tendon.

Avoid the back!! A lot of anesthesiologists won't do an epidural if you have one on your back near the spot they would put one, so avoid the middle back region. Up high on the shoulder is fine, and you could hide that in almost anything you wear.

I have one high on my butt, so that I can show people without revealing myself and I can very easily cover it up with either pants or even a bathing suit. It was my first and only tattoo and it really didn't hurt at all to get it in that area.

THEY ALL HURT. I have ten. Just pick a place that you like and do it. The pain passes and then you will love it.

Do it some where without a major muscle like, your butt. DO it on or near your ankle or shoulder.
