All these people above me have been pricks!!!! Ignore them please! You know what, I think that you are just thinking about it too much. If YOU are truly concerned, there;s no harm in going and talking to your doctor about having a sperm count done, and possibly an ovulation test. But, you're probably young and at the prime age for having babies.. keep trying, its fun isn't it? LOL!! Good Luck
Sorry, apparently it takes me a while to type, I emant the first 4-5 answerers... not all of the people above me! Their answers weren't there when I started typing mine, lol

There can be many reasons why a normally fertile couple may not conceive, even after a year of charting. The most likely possibility is that you've missed your fertile time.

There is also the possibility of "subfertility" which is usually caused by an issue w/ the cycle. Many of these issues can be easily detected and fixed at home.

Women are generally fertile for only about 5-7 days per cycle. Some women have fewer fertile days per cycle than others. There are usually a few days of fertile cervical fluid prior to ovulation. The more day of fertile CF, the more opportunities for intercourse leading to conception. During ovulation, an egg is released, The egg lives 12-24 hours. Around 10% of the time, another egg is released w/in 24 hours of the first. That egg would live 12-24 hours also. If sperm is present when the egg is released (from intercourse w/ fertile CF prior to ovulation) or still alive, the egg can be fertilized. That gives a fertile time of 5 days before ovulation (IF fertile cervical fluid is present) and 12-48 hours after.

A lack of or poor quality cervical fluid can greatly impede or prevent conception. W/o fertile CF, the sperm can only live 30min-4hrs in the woman's body. Some women may have trouble conceiving if they have little or no fertile CF or if they have it for maybe only half a day before ovulation (in which case timing would be VERY important). Cervical fluid can be affected by medications, your state of hydration, and other factors. It can also usually be treated at home by increasing water intake or trying some of the various natural rememdies.

Another cause of subfertility is low progesterone. This can make it very difficult to carry a pregnancy, even if you are conceiving. You would likely have an early miscarriage and might not even know you were pregnant.

The luteal phase is the time between ovulation and the next period. A normal luteal phase is 12-16 days long. A borderline LP is 10-12 days. An LP of at least 10 days is often a cause of difficulty in carrying a pregnancy b/c the baby doesn't have time to implant before the next period arrives. The woman probably wouldn't even know she had conceived. Low progesterone and/or a vit B deficiency (even a seemly well nourished woman can be B vit deficient) can cause an LP. In fact, a woman might have very regular and apparently normal length cycles but be having a SLP which is preventing implantation. An SLP can usually be treated at home too.

I highly recommend charting your fertility signs. Your chart can tell you when you are fertile, when you are not, when you are ovulating, when to expect your next period, and when to suspect pregnancy. Your chart can also tell you if there are issues delaying conception or causing difficulty w/ carrying a pregnancy and if there are serious issues which need a doc's attention.

Some good sources for charting your fertility signs: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software), The Art of Natural Family Planning, and Garden of Fertility

First I would say track your period for two months. use a simple free online ovulation calculator. Type in the last day of your menst. and it will tell you when your ovulating. Do this for two months to see how long your cycle lasts. Every woman is diffirent. I have a 31 day cycle every month since I was 10 years old. This means i dont get preganant on day 14 but much later. A few days make the diffirence. Then to ensure that the sperm gets to where it needs to go make sure your pelvis is as close to him as possible. most women say on top but that usally will land you a boy. Hope this helps Good luck.

I wouldn't stress so much. A lot times that the number reasons why couples ttc don't conceive. Try relaxing first.

Then make sure you are tracking your periods accurately. The day it starts and ends. Also try going on to www.babyzone.com to see when your are possible ovulating and also try buying an ovulation kit.

Once you know when your ovulating make sure you and ur fiance get busy during this time. Missionary position is the best position ttc and once he ejacuatlate elevate hips and stay lieing down at least 30 min to aid in those swimmers getting to the egg.

If still no luck then contact your dr to rule out infertility problems.

Good Luck

If you are under 35 and have been trying to get pregnant without success for a year, then it is time to go to a fertility specialist. If you are over 35, the time limit is 6 months. If you want children, even if you don't want them now, it might still be a good idea to see a fertility specialist and have tests done to see if anything is wrong and, if so, what should be done about it. That way, when you are ready to get pregnant, you will know what the next step is.

you could simply be getting lucky and missing your ovulation times - which is simple to do if you are not having sex every single day! i seem to have this luck as well - and now after being off the pill for a year and a half have managed to get pregnant in february, teh same month i convceived my first child in 7 years ago.. apparently my ovaries like february! if you do want to conceive, i would first try getting an ovulation monitor and finding out when you will be ovulating and if that does not work after a few months i would see an ob/gyn to make sure everything is working normally - and send him to the doctor too! perhaps he has a low sperm count?! best of luck..

Not at all!! Don't panic...there is only a 24-hour window in which you can actually get pregnant in any one menstrual cycle. Unless you hit it perfectly, you won't get pregnant. And having sex every day DROPS your chance of conceiveing, it does not increase it. Do it every other day when you have that fertile fluid - that sort of egg-white consistency discharge-it is the perfect fluid for sperm to swim in and it happens right around when you ovulate.

Buy some ovulation predictors. They are easy to use, and takes the guesswork out of it. But if you use them correctly for 3 months and nothing, see your doc for more help.

No there is no need for concern. Have you ben trying to get pregnant? A woman only has a window of 4 days during the month to get pregnant. So obviously the chances are more against pregnancy than for it.

No! i was trying for a while (1 1/2 years) with one of my boyfriends and we never used protection or anything. I eve put a tampon in after so the sperm could stay up there! I was dumb....we broke up and I got a new bf and within 3 weeks i got pregnant. I dunno if your timing is wrong, but your bf could be shooting blanks too. Not to be mean. I recommend doing it right after your period stops and if you still aren't pregnant after a couple months, get his sperm checked out at a clinic.
