If we had the same gun laws as the USA, would you purchase a hand gun to keep in your house for the purposes of self-defence, providing the UK laws changed to reflect this?

No. I have a cricket bad underneath the bed - that'd do the job without killing them.

No I don't feel the need at the moment. At this present time where I live I have never heard of anybody being shot or even having a gun pulled on them. I would find it frightening to have a gun in the house with two small children around.

It would have to be locked away somewhere and what use would that be in an immediate emergency.

so my answer is no, though who knows what the future will bring!

The responses to this question clearly display why the British Government will never legalise guns on demand. Guns are for losers and sociopaths.

No, although it would make me feel a lot more safe. The reason i wouldnt is because i'd be too paranoid something bad would happen if i had a gun in the house.

Not at all. There needs to be tougher gun laws in the UK. Guns are for sport, not crime or protection against crime.

No, I think I'll just take the view that if a bullet has my name on it then I'm better off out of this life and look forward to the next life in Eternity.

No, I'm sure I could find something fairly lethal to defend myself with amongst my normal household items. I hear much of the illegal weapons used in the USA are stolen, and people are frequently shot by intruders using their own weapon.

Yes and I would use it if my family were threatened and worry about the consequences later. We need more protection from
the scum out there as it stands. Even if someone abuses one of our children, some do-gooder will try and get the b...... off.
I don`t know how they sleep at night!!

no, a thief is a chancer, we were burgled last year whilst we were sleeping & i woke to a noise, went down stairs & there were 2 men in my hall & they legged it.
They were trying to steal my car & had popped the front door open & were looking for keys, there was no way they were going to risk anything with me for 1 car.
I think it would be a shame for us to resort to violence within our homes, what if the kids found it how do u explain that it's ok for mummy to shoot somebody.
