I'm from the UK and brought a sony vaio about a year ago! I've only recently seen a movie which is not available here and want to buy it from the states. How do i find out,(without ripping it apart) if my laptop will be able to play it? (I've already gone through my manual) Thanks!

You can usually change your DVD drives region around 5 times, after that, it will lock to the 5th region change, very few laptop DVD drives are mutli-regional.

It should paly it anyways th uk and americas are pretty much the same- I know that movies from scotland and hong kong play in american machines so I would assume that the uk machine will work with a us disk
