Anybody can write a story, even if not a single person reads it. That's easy. Getting people to read your stories and like them...that's the hard part.

They are both so different.

Fiction writing (story writing) requires a talent. If you're sure you're talented, it would be great for you to study Literature.

Non-fiction writing doesn't necessarily require a talent but being a successful journalist depends more on how special your style is. A jourlalist shoud be stubborn, persistent, patient, and witty.

I have always wanted to be a writer, and now I am stuyding English in the university. Anyway, best of luck with whatever you choose or do :).

You can be both if you desire. To be a journalist usually requires a degree in journalism, however. A story writer simply needs to have the desire of writing and the passion and creativity to come up with stories.
