I'm taking it for the first time this saturday. I was just wondering if anyone that hasalready taken it has any helpful advice or tips for the test. I don't really know what to expect, anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated!

1. Find a practice test if you haven't already, just so you have a chance to read the instructions and get used to the types of questions that they ask on the exam.
2. DON'T GUESS UNLESS YOU KNOW AT LEAST ONE OF THE POSSIBLE ANSWERS IS WRONG. That's in all caps for a reason. :) You're punished on the SAT for wrong answers, so unless you can make your odds better on guessing, leave the question blank.
3. You pay for the test booklet--so use it. Write all over it--write your math scratch work, scratch out wrong answers, circle your right answers...use it to your advantage.
4. Get a good night's sleep the night before...this is more useful than cramming.
5. Know where the exam is being held, where you check in, etc. Don't make your morning difficult since the test starts so early.
6. Take a water bottle, a soda, some chocolate...anything you think you might need in case you get hungry/thirsty/etc. during the exam. Don't be uncomfortable when you're supposed to be concentrating.

Good luck!

I'm a freshman in college and I took it last year, basically the best thing to do is just get lots of sleep the night before and don't be stressed about other things during the test. For the essay section, make sure you start writing as soon as possible, (within 5 minutes of the start of the section) and just keep writing until there's about 10 minutes left or so, then wrap up your thoughts with a quick conclusion. For the math section, always double check the simple problems, as there are times when the SAT will try to trick you. Also, bring a few granola bars and a bottle of water, because it does take quite a long time. Make sure your calculator has fresh batteries and good luck!

Be calm, don't panick, do your best on everything and just relax. If you dont get into the college you want dont worry. Everything will be normal sooner or later.
