BLACK PEOPLE ALWAYS TRY TO KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST FASHION AND WEARING CHAINS AROUND THEIR NECKS AND BUYING RIMS ON THEIR CARS AND BUYING HIGH PRICE SHOES

Please do not generalize. Not all black people are like this.
As for the black people who are like that: that is exactly why they are in the ghetto...they don't have their priorities right!

I believe that the music, specifically rap and hip hop (that is, the poor quality that is coming out today) has a big responsibility in this, given how many of them listen to and watch the music videos and the content of this music, which encourages lavish lifestyle and materialism.

First of all, I have seen white people in the ghetto wearing chains and high priced shoes. So it's not just black people. It's mainly young people following these trends and young people everywhere make dumb decisions with there money. Also, I would not describe high priced chains and shoes as living a lavish lifestyle. What it boils down to, is that, some people make wise decisions with their money and some people don't. It depends on the individual and how they were raised. That's it. So, don't make it a race issue.

Schools need to educate people about life in general. Teaching about saving money, investing money, how to get a college education when you have little or no money, how to raise children...etc.

If you have no role models and nobody teaches you then you do what you know....and that's the bottom line about most things.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Are you kidding me???

Trust me...white/asian/latin Americans are ALL up to thier eyeballs in hawk because they are living above their means. Some guy making 100k a year is trying to like like he's make 250k....From the Apalachen mountains to Beverly Hills...Americans are living on credit and no real foundation.

But believe its ONLY black people if you must.

disillusionment and the ability in america to spend money you don't have.

i suppose no one want to be seen poor, and when ever hip-hop video is telling you the way to go is to have 22's on you wheels and bling-bling, you can escape you powerlessness and insolvency by aquiring stuff, stuff that show you have when you really don't!

oh yea, don't generalize, i don't live in a ghetto and i live within my means!

It sounds like you begrudge a black person having something you don't have, just because they live in a ghetto. Does that make it a lavish lifestyle? I just don't understand your attitude.
sorry.

Life in a ghetto is not what is usually thought of as Lavish.

I think this behavior has roots in slavery. During slavery, enslaved Africans would see the slave master's big house and fine clothes. Some of them began to equate these material possessions with power. In reality, true power is derived from knowledge! We weren't allowed to read books in slavery, so if you don't read today, in my humble opinion, you are still a slave.

DOH! Hate to break it to ya, hun. But you've just committed a little boo boo called fallacy of hasty generalization. *summons you closer so I can whisper* Kind of makes you look like an idiot. Shhh.

BTW-Houses in my community range around 400K. And my bank account is very padded. My investment portolio, something I doubt you really understand, is very aggressive. I make a lot of money.
