My daughter started jumping out right before she turned 2. My friend's son could do it at 16 mo. My daughter would just cry and come get us....my friend's son would go in the kitchen and make a BIG mess in the middle of the night. We chose to put our daughter in a twin bed w/ a railing and close her bedroom door. Our friend bought the crib tent to use with her son because she felt he' d be safer. After she put him in a twin at 2 1/2 he still tore up the kitchen, so she had to put 2 baby gates on his bedroom door...one on top of the other!

Depends on the child. We switched my daughter to a toddler bed at 15 months because I was to worried she was going to climb and fall out of her crib, becuase she is such a monkey. My daughter turned two last week and she has some two year old friends that are still in cribs. My advice to you would be that if your child is a climber and you are worried switch her to a toddler bed, better safe then sorry. The adjustment from Crib to toddler bed was not that bad for us either. My daugher has almost leared how to open doors so that will be a whole new ball game! Good luck

Totally depends on the kid. If he or she is happy in the crib, it could take longer. If he or she is a late crawler, it'll take longer.

I think my oldest was about 18 months old the first time it happened.

My youngest liked his crib (maybe the only place he was safe from the oldest) and I don't actually remember him climbing out.
