Yes you've started-if it was heavy enough to stain your skirt then it was definately your period. Lots of women start off which the dark brown discharge. Sometimes you will have normal red blood, then other times it'll be like this, sometimes even in the same period. Dont be shy-just tell your mum and she'll help you. You need to start taking pads with you to school or when you go out in your bag so you dont get caught out. I have been caught out a few times and its very embarrassing to have to go round asking people for a pad! For the pain, take a painkiller that specifically states it can be used for period pain or muscle pain (period pain is caused by your uterus muscles contracting). Also try a hot water bottle. You can use the pian to judge when your periods are about to start each month, then you know when to be ready. I alwasy found this helpful because I was completely irregular, so that dull ache was a tell tale sign my period was on its way

To be honest, it is never easy to discuss your period with your mom or your doctor. That being said, find a time when you and your mom can be alone and tell her you are worried about your period because the blood just does not look right. She will, most likely, want to take you to the doctor. Go. Only a doctor can really figure out what is going on with your body. Dealing with menstrual problems is a life long thing with all women. You just have to take a deep breath and talk to your mom and then your doctor about it. It is best to get this problem seen to right away. It will keep you from many worried days and nights as well as insure your good health.

If it has lasted a couple of weeks, you need to see someone. A period only last from 5-7 days, normally. So if it lasts longer then that, you need to see someone about it. The first time you have your period can be different for everyone, so it could just be the way your body is handling it.

Just tell your mom. It's no big deal. She will probably act a little surprised, she may cry because "her baby is growing up", or she may be happy. You need to tell her though, so she can help you. I would tell her how long it has lasted too. She needs to know these things, and it's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's a normal thing for girls, so don't be scared to tell her.

Good luck!! I hope you figure out what is going on.

Sounds like you're having some what is called breakthrough bleeding. This is when the body has some stored up blood (which turns brown because it's older blood) and it will expel it at different intervals to prepare for ovulation. A lot of girls first period is like this rather than full on bleeding while either is possible. I suggest talking to your Mom about it to let her know so she can help you with this. Good luck!

Okay everything is normal so dont freak out!! You kno how when you get a cut and the blood dries it will turn brown? well its the same thing that you are finding in your underwear. or it is simply your period. mine was the exact same thing. And i had no idea how to talk to my mom about it so i asked my older sister and she gave me some pointers:

go up to ur mom when she is NOT busy and tell her that you need help with something. and say it like its homework or something

tell her that you think you started your period and tell her that you need her help on what to do.

she should smile and tell you what to do!!

It probably was your period and I'm sure you just need to tell your mom its nothing to be ashamed of and its completely normal. If anything she'll just give you more information that will help in the future when it happens again. I would think she'd be more upset that you didn't tell her.

Yes, it is probably your period. You are the right age, and you seem to be having the right symptoms. The best way to tell your mom is to just come out and tell her, because she will be happy for you. She can help you a lot with products too.

congradulations!

Bless your heart, i remember going through that when I was 11. I was soooo scared to tell my mom, because I knew she would cry and make a big deal out of it. i finally did tell her and she got me what I needed, but she did cry! Mine started out the same way as yours, so I am pretty sure it's your period. Good Luck!
