Last week it was as hard as a rock, and the doctor told me she wasn't close. He was surprised to feel today and see how soft it was. What does this mean? Doesn't this mean that dilation is next? I know no one can predict when I'll deliver, but based off of experience, what does this mean in terms of a timeframe? Thanks!!! :)

It sounds like your body is getting ready. From what I understand there is not any time frame. It could be tomorrow it could be 3 weeks from now. Some women will dialate to 2 or 3 and stay there for a week. Dialation is definitely next though, and I am very excited for you. I am 36 weeks and can not wait to get there myself. It must be nice to start seeing that light at the end of the tunnel. Congrats on the baby.

Yeah, Labor is close. Same happened to me. One day it was nothing than the next I was "very soft" From then on I could not wait to have my baby. It took about 6 days after the doc told me I was soft till I went into labor. Best of luck to you and congrats! (choose the Epidural)

At this point, labor could be anytime... I don't expect that you'd go overdue if you are already soft. If the baby has dropped and is in the birthing position, labor is imminent!!! Good Luck Mommy!!! All my best for a fast and easy delivery!

It means that it's a first sign that your body is getting ready for labor. It could still be a couple of weeks, but it's a good sign.
