1) Kobe said he wanted to let his fans know he's all about winning 24/7.

2) When he changes his number, the old jerseys are "retro" (worth more) and the new number sells because he's wearing it now (worth more). Bank.

Another thing is that 24 is one number greater then 23, MJ! Thats just a rumor though. What I like is the sound of 24/7, Kobe being 24 and Odom being 7! No matter the reason for the 24, he would have changed just to represent the second half of his Basketball career! I'm sure if he didn't play for the Lakers (or Jazz) he would have chosen 32, Magics number!

I was going to say that he changed his number to 24 because if you subtract Shaq's new number (32) with Kobe's old number (8) you would get 24. But he changed it to 24 because that was his high school number.

because he got paid by nike or reebok a ton of money because the number 24 would increase jersey sales.

He wanted people to know that he was changing himself. He was done with his old ways and was growing up. If you noticed he started more team basketball instead of his hot shot game he's been playing for years.
