Morlaity is subjective. If we allow the government to dictate it's citizens morality, who's morality should be chosen to use? Should we use fundy Christians' morality? Or how about Muslim morality? Orthodox Jewish morality? Hindu? Bhuddist? Pagan?

Who's morality should be choose? And whichever morality we choose, what about those who have a DIFFERENT set of morals? Are their personal values any less important? What if the government chosen morality violates the religious beliefs or values of some citizens of this country?

Government regulation of morality is a very dangerous thing, and a perfect way to ensure near perfect anarchy....as a majority of the country would be angered by the violation of their civil rights.

That is societies job, not the government. Society dictates what our moralities are and those same people are the ones who choose our leaders. The government does not need more power to control our lives, especially on a personal level.

because morality is relative despite anything the absolutists say to you. the government has no place to tell me i cannot drink, i cannot smoke pot, i cannot gamble. as long as my behavior doesn't harm anybody else or their property, it's none of the government's business.

look at saudi arabia, their government governs morality and they just sentenced a woman to 90 lashes simply for meeting a man that wasn't her relative. that's what happens when you let government govern morality.

If there are enough people that act in immoral ways such as participate in gross sexual acts, participate in pornography, behave in unethical and illigal activities, and have no character or set of values to live their lives - then the Country would be brought down to destruction.
The Government should have some say in morality and that is why.
