The owner's manual will specify the gas recommended by the car manufacturer. It will not hurt it if you use a higher grade gas. It's up to you and your finances.
I don't suggest gasing DOWN though. If your vehicle's manufacturing book recommends 93 octaine I would not contemplate using 87.
Good Luck!

No, it shouldn't hurt anything, rather it should increase the performance of your engine. Check your user's manual for the best octane rating to use on your vehicle.

you aren't hurting your car, but you are definetly hurting the environment. high octane fuels are less flammable to combat detonation in a higher compression engine. when you burn high octane gas in a car engineered for regular gas, all you are doing is expelling large amounts of unburned fuel(hydrocarbons and the like) into the atmosphere. haven't you heard of global warming?

No. Of course it's not helping anything either, and you are wasting money. You should run whatever the manufacturer calls for.
