He's giving me this
Garrett Atkins
(Col - 3B)
Mike González
(Atl - RP)
For this:
Jason Bay
(Pit - OF)
Francisco Liriano
(Min - SP,RP)
I think so because liriano isn't going to play most of the year

How bad do you need a 3B? What does your outfield look like? Gonzalez likely won't be the full-time closer in ATL so this is essentialy Atkins for Bay. Which position can you replace easier? Pay attention to Bay's SB numbers-this breaks the deal for me. It's true Liriano will be out for the whole season, but look for a RP on the waiver wire. Broxton, Shields or somebody who might get a shot at closing. I would say no to this trade, Atkins needs to prove he can repeat last year. We know Bay likely will.

Great trade for you. Liriano is done for and Bay still play for a lowly Pirates team. He'll get you .290 with 30+ Hr and 100@ RBI Runs with a handful of SB. Gonzalez may be primed to become a closer or at least setup(2.17 ERA) with the Braves this year and Atkins plays at coors field where BA's and runs come in droves. his numbers were way better except w/ a fw less HR and SB.

Take it and run. You can't trade Liriano later for anything this valuable. It's a burn.

Nah dont do it. You can cut Liriano b/c he's out for the year for sure and who knows if he'll ever come back the same. Atkins just isn't proven enough to give up a 5 tool player like Bay for. Unless you are desperate a 3b. Mike Gonzalez doesn't really have any value. Most teams don't like lefty's as closers for some reason, and he is currently behind Wickman and Soriano for the gig as it is. and you dont need to trade for set-up guys. just keep Bay and be happy with .300-110-35-110-12

I don't understand how anyone could be AGAINST this trade? Atkins had 120+ RBI's last years and is an improving lineup, Gonzalez is a great middle reliever who could end up closing soon. Liriano's done for '07 and Bay has limited protection in this lineup. He's not a SB threat anymore (11SB's in '06) and he hit 40 points lower than Atkins.

Um..... Take that trade and run.

Garrett Atkins had a .329. batting average with 29 Homers, 120 RBIs and 117 runs scored. Jason Bay is a very good outfielder, but his stats are not that good. Since Atkins plays at Coors Field and Bay plays for the Pirates, you would be getting the better hitter.

Liriano is gone for the year. He has decided to take 2007 off and make a fresh run in 2008. Gonzalez is a decent closer.

Hm... you're getting the better hitter, and you're giving up a pitcher who won't pitch this year... Hm... Take this trade.

It depends what kind of league you are in and what the rest of your team looks like.

Essentially- Gonzalez has little value in most leagues since he ins't closing in ATL. Bay has the edge on Atkins. So it depends on your other OF and 3B options on your team.

Myself, I would keep Bay and you can cut Liriano and find someone on waviers who will give you more value than Gonzalez.
