I'm in a new country and my dad likes it and my mom likes it but I don't. I go to high school and it is so different from the USA. The kids are weard and are not like my American friends. I get so sad some nights and I miss the USA. I don't want to learn the language, I just don't like it. Plus I think about America all the time. I miss my home in the U.S., my friends, the education, the class rooms, the teachers, the school buses. Can you help me. How can I feel better? Is this new life good for me? I have no friends here is it me?

Oh sweety try to make friends, my dad was in the Army and we always moved. I hated it but once I realized that it was a great opportunity to meet different and new people it really wasn't that bad. The kids are gonna be different and different is okay, you are different to them which makes you interesting!! Try to look at it that way, I know from experience that it is hard. The other kids may find it hard to approach you so approach them and make conversation, you just might surprise yourself. Join a club that way the other kids are already doing something that you're interested in. I really wish you luck, moving away is one of the hardest things to do, leaving your comfort zone isn't easy. Expand yourself, hold your head up and get out their. Try not to feel sorry for yourself because it won't help, the last thing you need is to be depressed. Good luck friend..

You didn't say where you moved to but it sounds like you have to learn a new language. A smile is an international language, give people who look friendly a nice smile. It will take awhile, it is a difficult situation you are in. Someone has to make the first step towards friendship so try to muster up your courage and take the first step towards making a friend. A good way to start is to give the other person a compliment. I've heard that watching cartoons in a new country is a good way to learn a new language. Also, take this opportunity to grow closer to your parents, you need them right now and they would probably be thrilled to spend some extra time with you. Don't worry, you will make friends and you'll always love the ones you had in the good old USA.

Have you talked with you parent about this and told them how sad and lonely you feel? Is there a relative in the USA you could live with while you finish school? Your parents want you to be happy. But give the place a try first and maybe you will meet some friends. It might turn out to be a great life experience. God luck!

You have the opportunity to live in a new culture. You I know are sad about missing your old life. Look at it as an experience. embrace these people they may not be as wierd as you are thinking. You may be projecting you sadness on not being where you want to be And prove to them you are not as wierd as they are thinking you are. Give it a chance, You will make new friends and it will be an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.

You need to talk to your parents immediately and tell them what you just wrote or show them this site. You need some help in adjusting to this new country.

Good Luck
