rent a steam cleaner and use the recommended product for the cleaner for pets and strong odor. Most grocery stores have a Rug Doctor rental and you can buy the special cleaner.

The cleaner will get down into the padding as well, which is where most of the odor is trapped, just make sure you use HOT HOT water and that you go very slowly over the most repugnant areas! If you go too fast, you won't pull the water back out of the carpet, which can cause mold. Put fans in the room and open the windows to air it out and dry the carpet.

There are plenty of things on the market but I have never found one that truly works unfortunately. Some mask the smell from us but the animals seem to always be able to tell and continue to use that spot. They say some break down the smell and rid the carpet of it but I have not found this so. I have found the only solution that has satisfied me was to throw out the carpet.

squeeze fresh lemon juice, as it´s carpet you can´t really use strong chemicals , but other surfaces you can use lemon juice and a very small drop of ammonia, leave the lemon juice to dry in then wash the carpet with your own hair shampoo , it works just as good as any carpet shampoo use tepid water ,rinse with cold water making sure you remove all suds. then lay a towel with a heavy object on top this will help dry up any remaining water from the underside of the carpet. dry carpet with natural air , if you have a humidifier you can use this too , Once you are sure the carpet is dry scatter baking soda on to the carpet leave for a few min´s then give a good hoover . this should help

Very first step is soda water....the carbonated stuff. Pour it on, rub it a bit and then use paper towel and then facial tissue to get it back up. Facial tissue is the most absorbent material there is.......just I don't want to use a whole box, so I start with the paper towel. Just keep blotting and blotting. If you catch the pee right away, that should be enough. Otherwise you can go with the enzyme cleaners sold in pet shops. I always have a gallon around, but then with 5 old dogs, it's needed.

if it's fresh clean the area, and baking soda will bring out the smell but if it's over a large area then have a professional clean your carpet, an animals nose it 10 times more powerful than a person so they will still smell it and go in those areas.
