It's normal. After menses is over, the body finishes flushing out everything that is left over and rebuilding the normal bacterias that are supposed to be there that get stripped during menses. If the discharge is thick, creamy, or has a smell - call your GYN.

Well let me step you through the female cycle!* There are two major sections of your monthly or so cycle. The first part starts with the first day of your period and ends with the day you ovulate (release the egg), which when it happens "textbook" (which we know that reality never follows a textbook) is 14 days after the first day of your period. The second parts starts at ovulation and ends when you start your period again!

Part One
You start with your period, then your body ramps up for ovulation (releasing the egg) and so secretes cervical fluid. The sticky white or lotiony cervical fluid is perfectly normal, but a few days before you ovulate, the fertile cervical fluid starts to flow and is kind of like egg whites. It'll be clear or white (mine was white this month) and there is quite a lot of it. This occurs until you ovulate.

Part Two
Ovulation occurs, the egg dies, and you no longer produce cervical fluid. If you have a lot of discharge at this time, then I would worry. Sometimes I have crumbly or sticky cervical fluid, but it should be a fairly small amount.

I hope this answers your question. I think the white discharge is probably perfectly normal, but the consistency can tell you a lot! Good luck and of course, if you are still worried, visit a doctor, although they rarely give me enough information to soothe my mind which is why I read that book!

Discharge is the body's natural cleanser. Usually it will be heavier after periods to flush the rest of the blood out the vagina. Most of all women have discharges, there is a few who don't. Some people have it before or after their periods, and some have it every day of their lives. Its just a part of nature.

It means that your body has left over dead eggs, you know the ones that are suppossed to be fertilized and its dead cells that your body is cleaning out to help reduce the bacteria.
