Pull it out with a pair of tweezers. Make sure you get the whole thing- sometimes the head gets detached and stuck in the wound, and it can get infected. Then clean out the bite with some peroxide or rubbing alcohol. If it's only the one tick he should be fine.

I am going to save your dog.Okay first thing you do is put nail polish remover on the tick just to put it to sleep. Then the tick will losen its grasp on your puppy. After, all you have to do is slowly pull the tick of your dog making sure that all the attenas and peices of the tick are off. The tick will eventually wake up so what you need to do is fry the tick because there is almost no other way to kill it.After if you see any red circles on the spot that the tick was on then take it to the vet imediatley.Trust me this will work but you must do it imediatly or the tick will get inside your dog and because it is a puppy could possibly kill it.I was so glad to help and I hope your puppy will be okay.

Take him to the vet and have them take care of it and see if he can be put on some type of flea and tick guard. Vet's closed? You can try the heat/fire thing or try some Oil on the fur/skin where the tick is and then try to remove the tick with the head...you don't want the tick head to get stuck on the skin...if you get the tick removed with the head successfully squish it, trash it and give the puppy a bath and still take him to vet tomorrow if you can and find out about flea and tick control. Best of luck!

There are a few ways; the most common is with a hot cigerette. But I woul recommend either coating the tick with vasolene and it will release due to lack of air, or an expensive trip to the vet. BTW, barring disease most ticks are harmless and will fall off once having had their fill of blood. One tick will not kill a puppy. But i would change his enviroment and treat the mother to be safe.

Couple of ways...#1 just take a pair of tweezers and pull everything off. Make sure you get the head. #2 you can take a match to the back of the tick or like a hot paper clip and he should let go.

have someone hold the dog and get a liter and putthe flam but the ticks backside, try to hold it away from the dog. ticks hate the heat and will detach from the skin. do not i repeat do not pull the tick off the head will stay in the dog. just to the flame thing. my mom had a tick in her hair and thats what they did

can you take it out? if you can remove it and then take the tick and the puppy to the vet. they will be able to check the tick for lyme disease. make sure you get the head and body out completely. to take it out you need to use tweezers and just pull out the tick as easy as possible. good luck and if you can' t do it then take it to the vet so they can.

I have heard of so many different things, taking a burnt match to the tick, taking tweezers etc. I say if your dog is that small call or take it to your vet.
Good luck.
