I am asking this question again because a lot of people mis-understood me. I am not talking about the coin with no writting on the edge, those are selling for $300-600 on eBay. I am wondering about the upside down writting. They are selling for $20-$50 but they down't seem that rare, alothough they must be if they are selling for that much. Just skeptical because I went to the bank and bought 2 rolls and 32 out of 50 coins had the upside down print? Does anyone know any extra details?

In order for the mint to produce a coin with a lettered edge, at a rate that the modern coin presses use, it was necessary to make a system that was not, nor could it be perfect. They expected that the legends on the edge would be upside down, have letters missing and sometimes not have anything . Ebay is a fine place for fools to lose money, in vast quanities. There are going to be lots of so called error coins. If the mint knew this would happen, then how can they really be an error. Look for lots more, but don't buy any at prices that will fall to the bottom, in a month or a few weeks. I do suspect that the coins with out any thing on them will be the rarest but only time will tell as to how many there will be. Anyone that pays $20-$50 as you said, for a coin you can get at the bank must be rich and bored.

The ones that are being auctioned at eBay for around $40 to $60 up to $600 are those mistakenly struck without their edge letterings. It's not clear how many coins lacked letterings, but sources stated that there are at least 50,000 of them around. On Presidential Dollars with upside down edge letterings, it doesn't matter whether the heads or tails side is facing up because the edge letterings are applied randomly, so a coin with upside down edge letterings is not an edge lettering error.

they are actually not the different way up that I even have heard of they're lacking "in God we have confidence" from around the perimeters of the coin. those on ebay are going for $40 to $80 money suited now.
