Sure, you would prefer your team to stay where it is, but everything might happen. You would prefer Vegas or Kansas? or may be Canadian Winnipeg where people will love your team with heart?

For my own selfish reasons I would say Vegas. Then I would get to see them once in awhile. I would actually plan my trips to Vegas around their schedule. I would definitely not go to see them in KC and even more definitely would not make a trip to Winnipeg to see them. You see, there are lots of reasons for a Vegas trip but who is going to go to Manitoba just to see a game, there is nothing else there. As far as a homegrown fan base, I think Vegas would really adapt and support it. $ is no issue there so they could build a state of the art arena and until ready they could play at the MGM.
People say that the minor hockey leagues don't really prosper so much there but it is apples and oranges. Name one player on their team. Exactly. How cool would it be to put a wager on the game, then go down the corridor of the MGM to watch it play out. Very cool.
People say that gambling could be a problem, I say bullpucky. In Canada you can wager on hockey in the crappy, terrible odds, voluntary taxation game called pro-line or anywhere you can get the internet, you can put a wager on the games through an on-line sportsbook.
People say there are too many sins like strippers. Newsflash, every city has strippers and hookers. Look at Montreal as a good example.
That said, this is a negotiation tactic and they will stay. The sides are just going through the bargaining process with threats of moving, finding other cities etc.

Well since this is a if, maybe, hypothetical question, I would choose that they move to Cleveland. Not that anyone would ever consider that, or that the poor sportsmanship fans of Cleveland would deserve such a great team. I say this for totally selfish reasons. Cleveland and Pittsburgh are equal distance drives for me and I don't want to be left to be a Blue Jackets fan for lack of another choice.
Vegas is too busy to have a strong fan base. Don't get me wrong, they would sell out most nights. However it would most likely be visitors and not the residents. KC may work out, but there is the question of viability. I don't remember the other pro sports teams located there showing up as regular contenders. I would not be that upset if any of the cities in Canada were given a team, but the financial stability of that is uncertain as well. As long is it is nowhere near Toronto. No need for the overactive media and whining fans to drag down another team.

I want to become a Pens fan and I've been following the whole deal from KC. Whenever KC lost its NHL team in the 70's, it was a rough economic time for almost everybody around the NHL. With an anchor talent like Sidney Crosby, it would be a great attraction anywhere, and Kansas Citians would respond. The Chiefs have some of the loudest fans in the NFL, and I have no doubts that a great atmosphere could be created in the brand new Sprint Center in KC.

Kansas City officials and AEG officials have said many times that it makes the most sense for everyone involved if the Penguins work out a deal to stay in Pennsylvania. Personally, I agree with that statement. But the Kansas City people have also said that IF a deal cannot be worked out in Pittsburgh, they want to be the frontrunners in the negotiations for the team. Who can blame them for that postion?

In a recent article, Tim Liewicke the president of AEG said that he thinks it is unlikely that the team will relocate to Kansas City. That says a lot to me. He also added that the people in Kansas City have earned the respect of the NHL and team owners by staying out of the negotiations in Pittsburgh. In light of this, I think the latest announcement that Kansas City had sweetened the deal is a ploy on the part of the team. Liewicke said the Kansas City officials have never considered the Penguins as a real possibility but have been in talks with another NHL franchise (probably Nashville) about the possibility of relocating to Kansas City following the next season. Liewicke himself said that is a far more likely scenario that is being supported by Mr. Bettman and the rest of the league.

With all of that said, I wouldn't blame Mario and Burkle for leaving Pittsburgh with the way they have been treated. I also think that despite the comments of Mr. Liewicke, there is a very likely possibility the team leaves Pittsburgh. If Rendell pisses off Mario and Burkle today, I think they will announce they will relocate to Kansas City. Sorry Pens fans, I know that's not what you want to read, but that's the way I see it. Today is the make-it or break-it day in Pennsylvania. Rendell either gives them what they want or they will announce they are leaving, and I don't think anyone on the Board of Govenors or the Mr. Bettman will be able to stop them from going.

I would be crushed if they left Pittsburgh, but to answer your question, if they would leave I would rather them go to a city in Canada. They would be supported in the way that this team deserves to be supported and I just dont see that in Kansas City. I definitely dont see it in Las Vegas. With as much as there is to do in Las Vegas, I cant imagine a hockey game would be a primary attraction. Even if they did have a good bit of people in the audience, a majority of them would be from out of town just to watch a game and not particularly be Pens fans.

I would prefer the Penguins to stay in Pittsburgh, but if they have to move, I would like to see them in Kansas City. At least that way one Missouri NHL team would be halfway decent before 2010.

The question isn't IF you want them to move, it's IF they do where would you want them to go... So saying that you want them to stay in Pittsburgh isn't answering the question.

Winnipeg would embrace and love a team, no doubt about that, but if we look at the Jets it wouldn't be a great idea as the NHL is quite tough to survive in, plus Winnipeg just built a new arena, but it is too small to house an NHL franchise.

So I will say I'd like to see them move to Winnipeg, but I realize that it's pretty unrealistic.
