my uncle was in vietnam, he and his war buddies used to tell me about how they were given drugs for free any kind they wanted.....If they did then, why not now?

Heroin was big in veitnam. Nixon actually tried to rufuse any drug addicts or soldiers who have done the drug back to the states, and leave them in Vietnam.

There have been several situations where the US Govt, ( often thru the CIA) was caught importing drugs to fund their operations, the whole Col. Oliver North thing was about the CIA importing Coke to the US to pay for black ops, North said he was working on the president's orders, Regan replied that he " didn't remember that" , and was later diagnosed with Alzheimers disease. so it very well may have been true.

I don't know about major gov't organizations, like the fbi, or cia, but in many state law enforcement agencies, aka- cops, they typically dont sell the drugs. rather, they buy the drugs, not sell. cops want to catch and cut off the source of the drugs, not the users.
