So, I'm no where near becoming pregnant and don't have a tattoo. Just to get that out of the way. - I would like to get one very soon but, being the planner that I am LOL, I would like to get one in a place that is cute but won't stretch out too much if I become pregnant later (much later probably). I know I don't want anything on my stomach which I would think would be the worst place for stretching. I think I would like one on my foot/ankle (the outside of the foot, below the ankle bone, near the heel) if you can visualize that, but I know feet swell & stuff in pregnancy so would that make it stretch or would that place not be too bad? It would be small. Thanks.

YOur feet are good. Also on your back or arm. They swell a little bit but not bad enough to make it stretch so much it wont go back.. stay away form your stomach or lower back hip bones and breasts. These will change a huge amount when you become prego.

I have a tattoo on my foot, and it is very painful, just to warn you. I also have 5 other tattoos, in various places, which did not hurt much at all (the top of my thigh, my shoulder, my hip, etc.). ANY tattoo can stretch, and WILL stretch with time. If you get one on your foot, one day you will still become old, and wrinkly, and your skin will not be firm, and your tattoo will sag, lose color, you will have to get it re-colored often, etc. And, you never know, you may become extremely overweight one day, and your feet will swell up, which will cause the tattoo to stretch. I too, am a big planner, and like to be prepared, but sometimes you just have to go with it, especially when tattoos are involved, I mean, that is kind of the point of one - a little teeny tiny bit of rebellion. You MUST keep in mind that no matter what you get or where, it will be there forever, and tattoos are more painful to remove than they are to receive. I think if you just want something small on your ankle, or the top of your foot, it would be very cute, and I think in the end you won't stress so much over it. You could get one on top of your toe, like a little flower or something. The best bet for you to feel 100% comfortable with your decision is to start Tattoo Parlor shopping. FInd one you like where the people are friendly, and helpful, and go from there. They are the ones who are proffessionals and do this for a living. I'm sure they would be glad to give you any advice!

Good luck, and happy hunting!

It would depend on how much you swelled during pregnancy.. I actually swell above the ankle bone and not in my feet at all, however I had a friend who gained 70lbs. and most of it was water she was very swollen everywhere. I think in most cases you would be safe with a tattoo on your ankle. I have one on my back and that is not affected at all so that is also a good place, in fact I think the only truly bad place would be the abdomen. Another friend of mine had a dolphin on her groin area that the doctor mistook for a whale at the end of her pregnancy. I don't know how it looks now. Hope I helped.

I have tattoos all the way up my legs from the ankle up and even though my feet and legs swelled my tattoos are fine. The swelling on your feet and legs is usually minimal (especially compared to your stomach). If and when you get a tattoo, I would say that would be fine in terms of swelling. But I'll tell you now the feet is one of the MOST painful places to get a tattoo. Maybe above your ankle would be better in terms of pain.

One on your ankle bone would be fine...

I actually have a palm tree on my hip (just above the hip bone)and it has NOT stretched AT ALL and I'm 28.5 weeks and have gained 30 pounds but it still hasn't stretched and my doctor said that he doesn't think it will...of course when I got the tattoo (spring break in college) the first thing my mom said was "that's going to get huge when you're pregnant!"

My thought is...i may have a tatoo in a place that might stretch, but honestly when I'm that huge and pregnant who's going to see it other than my doctor and husband? I'm not going to be running around wearing tube tops! lol :)

If you would like a tattoo...put it where you like, don't decide the location just based on pregnancy. I still love my palm tree :)

a tattoo on your ankle will not stretch, as the skin does not stretch to such extremes as your stomach. it is ok to have a tattoo there, i have three stars tattooed down my ankle very near the bone and they are small enough. it's a big tattoo on your hip or stomach you need to be careful about. i would very much advise against it if you have any plan on getting pregnant later in life

I have a tattoo on my lower stomach/hip area and I had a baby a year ago. My stomach grew to be very large, and my tattoo never stretched a bit. It looks exactly the same as it did before. All I did was rub vitamin E oil on my stomach and tattoed area each night. It did the trick!! Wherever you get it, use vitamin E oil and it will help!!

I got a tatoo on the top of my foot near my toes. It's a good location and really cute in the summer with flip flops and other sandals. Your feet won't swell in that location when pregnant or just from weight gain as you get older. It's been good for me so far. :)

I have a tat on my stomach, none on my feet. I did not get stretch marks on my stomach, but in the last week of my pregnancy my feet and lower legs were swollen up so bad that I did get them around my feet and calf. Good Luck
