As imperfect as it is I prefer the American social model. There is more freedom to do as you think is best for you. There is more freedom to travel, change jobs, control your own destiny. You are free to spend more of the money you earn the way you decide rather than the way some "better person" in government decides it should be spent.
Unfortunately too many people lack the self-discipline to provide for themselves. They spend their money on good times and toys. They become poor through being free. Yet I believe it is better to be poor and free than completely taken care of as a servant of the state.

currently living in France, having lived in England for 5 years. Honestly, England is NOT social compared to France. ITs completly different here, you can only work 35 hours a week MAXIMUM (they thought it would actually decrease the unemployment rate but didnt) companies hate having to hrie someone as you pay their wage to the employee and then nearly the same again to the government.
I still cant get a job here!

just look at the HDI (Human Development Index...)
The scandinavians beat everybody. Good system, but I´m not sure that it would work as well in latin countries for example. They have a good honest and organized population for this model. I don´t know any other place in the world where it would work.

Any Nordic model wins hands down- I mean- they've got smashing legs, good teeth and they shave their armpits.
