It's best to take them into the shoe repair and get them re-soled...

What sort of soles are you needing to repair, on what sort of shoes?

Anything which has cleats is difficult to home repair due to the shaping.

Plain, flat soles can have extra stick on soles, these can be bought in some hardware/home stores. Follow the instructions regarding the glue as this is the key to them working!

Lot's of people are saying "take them to a cobbler". Well, since you're asking the question, I would venture to say that you don't know any cobblers or you wouldn't have to ask the question.

In the US, there is a national chain called the Shoe Hospital that does a very good job and it only costs about $15-20 bucks. Unless you wear extremely cheap shoes, I would say a trip to the Shoe Hospital is a very good option for you.

Get some stuff called "Shoe Goo". It comes in a tube. You squeeze it out, level it off, and when it dries it's pretty tough.

you go to a good ol' fashioned shoe repair place and it often cost more than the shoes themselves.
