For the last week or so I have been craving fish. Before that it was chicken. Do any of you have any idea why I could be having these cravings? And NO I am not pregnant so it isn't that.

Personally I follow these urges to eat something specific. It is like my body telling me I need the vitamins in fish... or the sugar in chocolate or the sharpness of pepper or... whatever... If I eat what I crave I feel lots better. And no, not obsessive or overweight, but normal portions till I want something else... and I am not pregnant either. I just think the body and mind work togheter to let you eat what you need the most... if you need fluids you get thirsty. I believe this is the same thing. especially if you do crave normal food. and not big fat hamburgers all the time.. I have it with fruit sometimes.. I just have to eat pears and so on... till I have had enough... after a couple of days and a couple of pears...

Craving Seafood

I like the idea that your body is in need of a certain nutrient, such as iodine or certain fatty acids, that are prevalent in fish and seafood. I find that my body is very good at telling when I need to eat certain foods as part of my diet. I get cravings for all kinds of different things at different times, such as green vegetables, fruit, fish, red meat, especially if these haven't been in my diet for a few days. That's why dieticians tend to stress the importance of a balanced diet. Of course if you're still craving seafood after already spending days eating it then there might be some other explanation...!

People crave food when their body is lacking some nutrients that is found in that food. You may need Vit A or protein don't worry just eat what your craving. It should only be short lived but if not go to your doc and get ur levels checked you may need some supplements.

it's probably because your palate misses these types of foods and right before a period your hormonal levels are changing and therefor causing you to crave. I myself always crave for cookies and hot chocolate and Im not pregnant.

Possible vitamin A/mineral deficiency. I go thru that sometimes. However, it would not explain why I crave mashed potatoes as they seem to have no nutritional value, yet they taste so good ........
