I think a major issue in the upcoming election(why the hell are we talking about it yet, anyways!) will be whether the government should provide universal health care to all Americans. My question is, isn't it more important that we concentrate on lowering healthcare costs rather than giving everyone health insurance? Regardless of whether the government or a private company is giving you insurance, the hospital bill will be the same. Much of the reason people cannot afford health insurance is because the high cost of medical procedures cause insurance to cost too much. Why doesn't the government treat the cause(health care costs) rather than the symptom(health care insurance)?

By the way, I am not advocating either party's position.

Insurance companies lobby the government to legitimize their pillaging of the US population. The thought that american's oppose single payer health care because it is a socialist policy is like a poisoned man who will not drink an antidote because it is made in China. So what if it is a socialist measure. Are you too afraid socialism works? Of course, the intelligentsia is afraid you find out not only about the necessity of single payer, but also democratic economic models and fair trade globalization. Sorry, kid, the cold war is over.

I have two words for government healthcare.
Walter Reed.

Now lets look at the reality of governmental health care.
The model liberals point to is in Canada.
Well in Canada they come here to have surgires or now they go to India.
If someone here needs their scripts to be filled they go to Canada.

Canada is doing something right about the cost of drugs and something wrong when it comes to seeing a doctor or getting surgury.

The US is doing something right about seeing a doctor or surgury but gets it wrong when it comes to drugs.

So I say huddle up and lets do what the Candanains are doing right and what the US is doing right so we all win.

Ask the Canadians about national health care.

The problem is that the healthcare companies get to gauge consumer's because you are pretty much forced to have healthcare. It is like gas right now, everyone needs it, so the companies that produce it can afford to abuse their customers. but it will eventually backfire, like credit card companies, once an alternative comes along.

National health care does not work well in other countries. Why on earth would we bring it here?

Also: its just about as close to socialism as you can get.
