I have an interview for a job next week and was wondering if I should tell them I am preggo? I don't want them to not hire me because of it and I know it is discrimination if they don't but I would never be able to prove it. But I also don't wanna get hired and then have to tell them because then they will be upset. Please help if anyone can find out what the exact laws on this are that would help tremendously.

I am about 17 weeks so I figured I will only be able to hide it for another month.

You don't technically have to tell an employer you're pregnant until 30 days before you start maternity leave. That's the exact law. But, they'll figure it out before then. Unless you're interviewing for a job that you would be physically unable to do, or dangerous to do (police officer, firefighter, security guard), you don't have to tell them.

Of course they legally can't discriminate against you because you're pregnant...but it's VERY easy for them to say "you're just not qualified" or "we decided to go with another candidate". I personally would not tell them about my pregnancy since they can't use that as a deciding factor in whether to hire me or not. If they become upset after you are hired and you tell them you're pregnant just say that you did not disclose your pregnancy at the time of interview because you are confident that your pregnancy will not interfere with your ability to perform your job functions effectively. You could also mention something about not informing them of your pregnancy because you were confident that the company does not discriminate against pregnant women and therefor did not feel that it was a necessary fact to disclose since it has nothing to do with your experience, qualifications, or abilities.

Companies can be VERY dirty when it comes to dealing with pregnancy women...because of this, you should not feel bad about keeping it a secret, after all the company wouldn't feel bad about not hiring you solely based on your pregnancy.

That happened to me over 6 years ago. I went on an interview and got a job during my first trimester. I did not tell.

Dont tell!

I wouldn't tell them I'm pregnant. But they can't NOT hire you just because you are pregnant. Equal Opportunity Laws

depending on the job ans physical job requirements...true they can not not hire you because you are pregnant, but if you took a job that required lifting stuff and you can not do that aspect of the job yes you can be fired for not performing the basics of your job

First of all, they can't ask you if you are pregnant. I would not tell them you are unless you are sure you are going to get the job.

if they find out your pregnant after they hire you they'll probably fire you for it...that and you should always tell your possible emplorer because they may ask you to do something that you can't do while you're pregnant and then you'll have to explain it then in front of a bunch of people instead of in private
