Labor Day has been celebrated on the first Monday in September in the United States since the 1880s.
Labor Day is often regarded simply as a day of rest and, unlike May Day, political demonstrations are rare. Forms of celebration include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events. Families with school-age children take it as the last chance to travel before the end of summer.

Why would Americans follow the Communist Principles? May first means it is the Trade Union of the Communist Type!
Do your Duty and fight for your Rights is not a Bad Slogan. But in many places people want to fight for their 'share' on every thing but don't bother to do their Duty. That is what communists support.
But in USA Hire and Fire as per the needs of the Business is the Way it works.

Because a lot of couples have mucho sex during the holidays and many women get pregnant around that time (late november to late december) and they go in labor around September!
at least, that's what i think! it has nothing to do with work, because you're not laboring on labor day, you're off but the girl the guys are with are in labor! you have the day off to take them to the hospital!
