my coworker is driving me crazy. She is 69 years old with no sign of ever retiring. She takes up a lot of my time (and patience) with her idle chatter every day. I don't have a door to close and need to get along with her, yet I can't focus on my work and get depressed listening to all her problems! Otherwise, I love my job! Help!!!!!! Any suggestions?

Yeah, she is coming to you because you have shown that you are willing to listen to her.

Just be short and sweet and say, "Sorry, can't talk right now, I have to get to work." Then start working. Don't let her stay. Don't let her distract you while you are working.

If you keep letting her steal your time, then she will always want to steal your time.
