I was wondering if anyone else had this happen? We heard the placenta sounds but no kiddo. Just looking for reassurance right now. Doctor wants me back in on Tuesday. Did this make a difference with anyone? Thank you.

We couldnt hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks either with a doppler, but doctor reassured by that we may be off a week on my due date and also if you had fat on your stomach prior to pregnancy (like I did) it is hard to hear the heartbeat this early with a doppler. I am now 20 weeks and have heard a very healthy heartbeat at 15 and 19 weeks. Dont worry! If your doctor wasnt too conerned then I'm sure everything will be okay.

Hi - This also happened to me. I know sometimes it is an indicator of problems, but for me things turned out ok. My doctor said it's actually fairly common for a woman with a tipped (or tilted) uterus to have difficulty hearing the heartbeat. I actually had an ultrasound and couldn't find the baby on ultrasound either. So...they ordered a trans-vaginal ultrasound and found the kiddo right away. Whew. I about cried. It is definitely unnerving.

Good luck. I hope things turn out well for you.

I was actually able to hear my baby's heart beat at 8 weeks and 4 days when I had my 1st visit with a vaginal ultrasound and then again with a doppler at 12 weeks.

But as far as placenta sounds I've never heard anyone or dr. say they only heard that and no baby. My dr. informed me that with a doppler it may take a while to first hear the heartbeat since the baby is still small but there should be no reason they cant find it.

Honestly.. you should be able to hear the heartbeat by now. However, the baby could be in a funny position making it hard to find the heartbeat. If he does not find a heartbeat on Tuesday make him do an ultrasound. I personally would call and have him do one sooner if possible. I went in at 8 weeks and they didnt hear a heartbeat so they did an ultrasound and unfortunatley I miscarried. I dont want to alarm you but I do want to be honest with you. When I miscarried I was not sick at all that pregnancy. I now have a son and I was really sick with him. Have you been sick. I would go back in sooner then Tuesday.

We couldn't hear the heartbeat with a doppler at 12 weeks with my daughter. I panicked and the doc asked if I wanted an ultrasound. I said YES!! Everything was fine. Just a little too much tummy fat on me to go through. Just wait another week and try again.

How are you listening? On the doppler at the doctor's office or at home? Sometimes it's hard to locate the heartbeat. If the doctor is worried, he'll run some blood tests and an ultrasound.

They always had a hard time finding my baby's heartbeat, and then once they did she always moved, which started the treasure hunt all over again. I'm somewhat surprised he didn't do an ultrasound for reassurance. Good luck.

I heard it at 11 weeks and then went back a week later and nothing....So don't be too alarmed even though it is hard not too the baby is so so tiny and may just be hiding. If your dr. was concerned he would of done an ultrasound.
