I want to make a lighted "sign" to hang in our home bar area. I want to make it out of stained glass mosaic peices. What should I use to adhere the stained glass pieces to the glass backer piece and what should I use as the "grout". I don't want to use real grout because I think it will be to heavy. Any ideas?

the 1st lengthy answer is in actuality describing a thank you to do stained glass residing living house windows. Stained glass mosaics, in case you're employing the term properly, are achieved in one in all 2 tactics. The plenty much less complicated way is to coach a clean backing sheet and glue the products down with E6000 silicone adhesive/glue and then grout the areas between the glass to get dark lines. the greater advantageous good way is to learn the glass to the backing glass and then hearth/fuse the products to the glass with a kiln at approximately 1500F. Stained glass mosaics is likewise made an comparable way stone mosaics are made, by using laying out the glass and pouring a cement mortar combination over to hold the glass and then grouting, yet optimum glass seems somewhat boring in this party.

Hi
The adhesive to use would be silicone, anything like weldbond will become gooey again if it gets wet. But with silicone apply a thin layer so you won't see it through the glass. For grout, plain old tile grout from home depot, non sanded. Here is a link for stained glass artists, mosaic artists and others to ask Q&A
