If you just want to get to the island faster and spend more time on the island, then plane.
If you would like a leisure trip to the island with multiple ports of call, then cruise.
The good thing about a cruise is that you've technically paid for the majority of needs up front room, food and most of the entertainment (exclude shopping, alcohol and gambling as well as any port of call adventures you may want to explore).
So perhaps you might want to begin your vacation with a cruise to your desired island destination - with a few various ports of call along the way. When you get to your desired island stay for a week or two so you have time to do all the things you want to do or do nothing at all and enjoy the scenery then fly home. Or fly to your island of choice and take a cruise home =)

I already went by plane, I live on a tiny Island, so a cruise would be nice.

Cruise.
Mechanical error or pilot error with a cruiseship, you bob around the ocean for a few hours until it's fixed. Or, even if it sinks, you have an hour before you're in the LIFE BOATS!
With a plane, operator or mechanical errors mean you'll be severely killed, with a good 3 minutes to dwell on that fact!

I would like to take the cruise, never been on one went on planes many of times. but i would love to see the scenery from a cruise ship.

no way a cruise
they are mostly of offshore registry and guys from all around the world work on them with very bad backgrounds, this is why from kids to the elderly are getting rapped in their own beds and taken into closets and raped and some thrown overboard, rape happens many times on every trip, we do not hear about it because a lot of people are not from this country and the cruise line makes it hard for the information to get out
but many people are raped each and every trip even kids young ladies and the elderly too
go to the island
unless you think the excitement of not knowing when your going to be raped by some stranger and not knowing what diseases he has it a lot of fun
