Why did HBO get rid of Carnivale?

I just finished watching season 2, and I'm so pissed off that it just stops because some money whore at HBO said so. I love that series, and now I'm at a loss as to how to cope with the ending...it just left me hanging....

Because of the ratings. A lot of people stopped watching the show for some reason. I loved it. I'm just as pissed as you.
