Pullout by fall 2008
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent
WASHINGTON - In a direct challenge to President Bush, House Democrats unveiled legislation Thursday requiring the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the fall of next year. The White House said Bush would veto it.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the deadline would be added to legislation providing nearly $100 billion the Bush administration has requested for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
---By the fall of 2008, the US will have caused, directly or indirectly, even more massive destruction of much of Iraq's infrastructure anyway. This attempted measure does nothing other than to provide fodder for even more destruction, much less untold deaths on all sides.
No matter their proposals, none of them have come up with a plan that will strip this president of self-imposed power. In fact, most of them probably woudn't know if we paid them.
Woe be unto all of us.
