Im going to have about 5 hours between flights through Manila Airport depending on check in time. I was wondering what are some things in the Airport I could do to pass time? Any public showers?

I've been through the domestic airport a couple of times and found hardly anything to do but grab a bite to eat and be bored. The International airport is a little better, but not much. I have been in and out of that airport many times and have never seen a place to shower or use internet.

You can get a great massage, but it is about 2 or 3 times more expensive (about 1,000 peso per hour) at the airport than anyplace else. But if you do decide to get a massage at the airport, please be sure to tip the therapists. They are very nice girls and hardly get any tips, as most of their customers are Asians (Korean, Japanese, and Chinese) who are not known for tipping much. The girls there almost always are smiling and very friendly. The last time I was there, the massage was so good I fell asleep and woke up feeling very relaxed.

Other than the massage, you can shop for some Filipino music, t-shirts, necklaces and stuff like that. You can also buy some overpriced chocolates, mango products, and things like that. They also have a few walk-up places to get food (sandwiches and soup). I suggest the soups... stay away from the sandwiches unless you go to the lounge. I think it is about 500 pesos (free food and drinks... not bad).

However, if I had 5 hours, I think I would head out of the airport, but then again.. I know the area and feel confident that I could get back in time. It is a shame you are only there such a short time. Manila is a fun place.

Thing To Do In Manila

Go out the Manila Airport and visit the Mall of Asia, the third largest mall in the world and the largest in the entire Southeast Asia.

Mall of Asia is just 15 minutes from the airport.

After you get bored of Mall of Asia, you can go to One Esplanade (just beside Mall of Asia), which is an open area for lovers and tourists - it is fronting the Manila Bay, which has the best sunset in the world, according to many.

If you're lucky, you can get to see fireworks from One Esplanade during Friday and Saturay nights.

the airport here doesn't have public showers. if you are a smoker they have the smoking area. you can walk around and check the shops. they have the duty free shops and some native crafts. there are also food stalls inside. you might want to try native delicacies. or you can read a book (there's a bookstore inside) or have a chat with a fellow passenger. filipinos are friendly..

What time? If in the evening and you are prepared to take a chance on traffic, head out to Makati - Burgos Street and grab a beer and watch the nightlife.
