I am using a desktop right now. Laptops could be good because they are portable, but must connect to the internet wirelessly to access the internet while on the run. I prefer desktops though.

I have a laptop right now. If you want a portable computer, get a laptop. Laptops are a lot smaller, and take up less space. If you just plan on working in one spot, and don't care about space, get a desktop. Laptops are still easier to use than desktops. It's easier to connect things to a laptop than it is with a desktop. Desktops have a floppy drive already built in, with 2 CD drives, unlike most laptops, which require a USB floppy drive. Some desktops have more ports than laptops, depending on which one you get. Laptops are a lot lighter than desktops. If you need another monitor with a desktop, you need to carry that heavy monitor, and replace it with another one. Most desktops cannot connect to a TV. If you don't want to worry about battery life, then get a desktop.

i'm using a desktop right now.
desktops can't be beaten in terms of speed and accuracy
however, there are laptops that come with comparitive speeds of a desktop, however just look at the sizes they come in and technically they are called 'Desktop Replacement Laptops".

Choosing a computer for you completely depends on what you want to do with it ultimately. Think about that and then start making your selections.

I depends on what you want to use it for. If you want to game or otherwise put a lot of stress on it, get a desktop. If you are doing things that aren't terribly demanding and want to bring it with you, get a laptop.

Unless you need to take it with you a desktop is better.

Laptops have become more popular as prices have dropped. I use one since it is all one piece and there is less clutter. A desktop may have more expansion capabilities and is cheaper to repair.

I'm running a wireless laptop, and would never go back to a desktop. They're just too confining.
