I want to plant one in my front yard. I've seen many kinds. I prefer the ones with pink/white flowers and green leaves. I've seen some with flowers only and no leaves. How do I make sure I get the one with leaves?

TYPES:

Southern Magnolia
Magnolia grandiflora
Cucumber Tree
Magnolia acuminata
Saucer Magnolia
Magnolia x soulangiana
Star Magnolia
Magnolia stellata
Anise Magnolia
Magnolia salicifolia
Loebner Magnolia
Magnolia loebneri

I think this one will give out those pink flowers;

Saucer Magnolia
Magnolia x soulangiana

Foliage: Deciduous broadleaf
Height: 25 feet
Spread: 20 feet
Shape: Bushy

Large white and pink, cup-shaped flowers appear in spring before summer foliage. Deep green, summer foliage turns brown in fall.

Saucer Magnolia or Magnolia x soulangiana is a hybrid of M. denudata crossed with M. liliiflora.

Raised in Mons Soulange-Boudin at Fromont, near Paris, early 19th century, but forms may have originated in Japan long before this. There ae a number of named clones all of which have the useful habit of flowering when young. The plant usually grown under this name is Etienne Soulange-Boudin. Others include:

Alba, Alba Superba, Alexandrina, Amabilis, Bronzzonii, Lennel, Lennei Alba, Nigra, Norbertii, Picture, Rubra, Rustica Rubra, San Jose, Speciosa, Sundew, Triumphans, and Verbanica.
