okay, long story here, so sorry for that, but need some piece of mind. I'm 25. Last week I fell down my basement stairs and severly bruised my back and ribs. They put me on pain medication and muscle relaxers for it. And I started to feel better very soon, and was back to work after a week. I stopped my pain meds on Sunday night. Then Monday I started having really bad abdominal pain. I didn't worry about it at first, and then Tuesday night I was still hurting. I thought maybe that because of my pain medication mother nature couldn't run its course and took some milk of magnesia and it worked like it needed to but my abdominal pain increased severly. My fiance wanted to take me to the ER last night because he was scared but because of our limited funds I told him that I'd go to the doc this am. Long story short they are talking something wrong with my ovary, should I be scared, or am i worrying for nothing? Could my fall have impacted this at all? Thanks!!!

If the pain is located in your side and you have no fever, it could be an ovarian cyst. Every woman gets them around the time of menses and they usually are very small and rupture on their own and most women don't even know they are there. But sometimes the cysts get bigger which can cause immense pain because of the size of the cyst. In those cases, sometimes the cyst needs to be drained or removed from the ovary to get relief and take away chjances of a bad rupture. A very large cysts rupturing can actually cause damage such as collapsing the fallopian tube or causing you to have to have the ovary removed completely. Not trying to scare you, just want to give you the information for your own benefit. It's very important to follow up with the doctors on this! The fall wouldn't cause it but if you had a cyst when you fell, it may have caused it to rupture or slowly leak which can cause the pain but in that case, you would have been having this pain there from the get go.

If you notice a fever and the pain is in the right lower quadrant of your stomach, get to the ER immediately. That could indicate appendicitis. Good luck!

It more then likely wasn't the fall. You probably have a cyst on one of your ovaries. Nothing to worry about, they just hurt a lot. If you aren't on birth control right now, they may put you on the pill. It can help with cysts and pain with your period. There can be a problem if one of the cysts rupture, but that rarely happens, so I wouldn't be concerned. I would get it checked out though. Also, if you haven't had your appendix out, I would be for getting that checked to. If they said it isn't that, then you are fine there. They will probably want to do an ultrasound or other tests to check and see if it is a cyst. This doesn't hurt and will show anything else wrong with them too. Good luck!!! I hope you feel better soon!!

I had an ovary burst from a cyst I was helping a friend move. I was having abdominal pains. I thought It was my appendix's because it was my right side. Nope! this isn't something to mess around with. I almost waited to long. I don't want to scare you but. I had to have emergency surgery I lost my one of my ovaries and one of my tubes. Did they do a Sonogram? If you want to ask any question e-mail me t_fairchild@sbcglobal.net. I was 19 when it happened to me.

It could be a cyst. My boyfriend's step-mother had one and needed a partial hysterectomy. She discovered it when she was doing sit-ups. She's had a baby since and she was told by the doctor's that an egg will drop out of her remaining ovary every month instead of alternating.
My cousin also had a cyst and they gave her medication and she didn't need surgery.
It all depends on the situation.

You could have a syst (spelling), VERY painful. I believe i've heard that falls can make systs worse meaning it may have been so small that you didn't feel it before or thought they were just regular cramps. Normally they test for this with a sonogram. A good friend of mine had one and they gave her meds and most of the time she had no problems with pain or anything, just on occasion it would still hurt.

good luck!

Don't panic yet! It could be as simple as an ovarian cyst. O maybe a bruised ovary. You may have given it a slight twist. Try to relax until you are sure.

It's extremely unlikely the fall had anything to do with your current problem. In this case, coincidence is actually much more likely. I'm guessing you're just past half way between periods.
