For my birthday I'm hoping to get an eyebrow pierced. Can I spar (ie. full contact fight wearing sparring gear) in Tae Kwon Do?

For that we wear a head guard thing that looks a bit like this:

Would it be too much of a risk if the piercing got knocked, and could I put a plaster/band aid, over it while I spar?

Also, about how long will they take to heal, and how soon would I be able to change the barbell?

there's a fair chance it will get caught at some point, even just standard body piercings will get caught in hair and clothes and such and that's without any full contact fighting.

it's probably not worth the risk since a standard piercing when caught with any force will just tear out like a hot knife through butter and probably leave a large scar in it's place.

a band aid might help, but if you catch any blows to the piercing it could still move/tear from it's original position.

they take 4-6 weeks to heal, after that you can swap the jewellery for a much smaller flexible plastic bar which will stand less chance of being caught.

after that 4-6 weeks (any earlier and the piercing might not heal properly) you'll be wanting to take it out completely for the duration of your training and sparring. don't forget to put it back in straight after, it's only piercings that are years old that can be left out for a few hours without shrinking down.

it will hurt bad if you get hit right. i took tae kwon do when i was little so i know about it. just becareful if you gonna do it, i would just not participate in full contact sparring until it is completely healed and you and take it out for the class. and the healing process is different from person to person, just be patient and go to class to stay fresh, but i would protect that eye if you do decide to spar.

i don't know if you can take off your peircing but what you can do is get one and before you go to tae kwon do take off the piercing

it depends where you go
the place my friend goes to makes you take off your piercings-all of them
