You may want to repost this under Home->Education-Homework Help. Many , many school curriculums include this in thier subjects and assigned readings as homework. You’ll find a much more ready, and willing to answer, audience under this category!

I did read that one. I enjoyed it quite alot. I can't recall it well enogh to give a chapter by chapter review. I can give you an overview. I don't know hw much you read. Maybe some, maybe none. The beginning of the book covers life in Shanghai just prior to cultural revolution. You get a feel for her life before the turmoil. Then she covers how things came apart and people betrayed her to protect their own skins. It really does a good job of discussing the way Chinese think at times. (I live here and sometimes they mystify me). The main part of the book covers her time in prison. She suffered horrendous abuse (physical and mental). She nearly ded from various illness several times and was even physically beaten once or twice by cruel guards. The last part of the book covers her release from prison and her ultimate departure from China. I have lived in Shanghai for 7 years. I drive by that very prison almost every week. I am an American expatriate working here. I run a large chemical business. I employ and sell to Chinese customers. This book covers a period of their history that is extremely enigmatic to me. They all suffered tremendously, yet still revere Mr. Mao as if he were their savior. I can't understand it at all. Most revere him to this day and are unaware or repress the fact that he was responsible for more deaths than Hitler or Stalin. Go figure?? I do not mean to offend anyone that reads this. These are my opinions and not meant to be taken as a slur in any way. I love living and working here. It is a great country and has a lot to offer. Hope this helps.
