Pretty much. Some fertility treatments (not birth control) contain HCG in it (the hormone pregnancy tests detect) but they should let you know when you get them if they will or not. And some people produce a very small amount of HCG naturally but it is NOT enough to show up on a pregnancy test so .... YES pregnancy is (basically) the only thing that can make a test positive. A blood test at the drs can confirm pregnancy and are slightly more accurate than a urine test.

I read this somewhere:

You may get a false-positive if you have traces of blood or protein in your urine. Various prescription drugs — including diuretics and promethazine (used to treat allergy symptoms and nausea) — also can cause a false-positive result. Using an expired or damaged test kit may have the same effect.

I had a friend who was a protein hound and had a false positive.

An ovarian cyst can sometimes cause a false positive. Also, if you've recently had a miscarriage you will get a false positive. (Many women don't even realize they've had one if it happened really early; they just chalked it up to an extra heavy period)

Or, you could be pregnant.

I've heard something about some prescription drugs that can make a false positive, but not to sure what they are.
