by ignoring known problems at military hospitals and not going public in order to avoid embarrassment?

These brave men and women they are quick to laud are quickly forgotten when Repub leaders silence Murtha, squash the then minority Dems and then go out and speak of defending the nation and supporting the troops.

Link provided is of Sr. Repub Congressional leaders stating they knew of the problems yet did nothing. Just read it and defend yourselves neocons.

I notice that some neocons won't answer the question rather they deflect the argument say Clinton did it too! Ok, so why didn't the Repubs reinstate those funds during the 6 years they ran the show (had WH and both houses of Congress)?

And the question is, of course, why did you do nothing for FOUR years? Not what did or didn't happen 10 years ago, but why nothing happened when Repubs had control of all three branches and still knew of it.

Just like they knew about Foley and did nothing. I wonder what else the do nothing Congress of 6 years neglected or overlooked. Now with true Congressional oversight we should see more of this kind of stuff and be able to get to the bottom of it. Let more heads roll.

Why didn't the Dems show gratitude through the 90's? This is a bi-political issues. Making a political issues by the Left is (by now all of a sudden trying to be a troop defender) is a dis service and proves that the left political machine only takes issues when elections are at stake.

The Walter Reed budget is 37% higher than the previous administration. And if the Murtha's and the rest get their way and cut funding to the military isn't hypocritical to not think where the cuts would effect...fix the problem.

Although this is not an answer, this is what every American should be asking:

Who decided to give IAP Worldwide Services the contract to run Walter Reed?
Why did IAP, whose chairman, Al Neffgen, a former executive of Halliburton, get the contract?
Why did the Army "unilaterally" increase the government cost to run Walter Reed by $7 Million, making the government bid to run the hospital higher than the IAP bid?
Why did the Army give IAP the contract after IAP failed so miserably in fulfilling its previous government contract to deliver ice to New Orleans after Katrina?
Why did more than 250 out of some 300 government employees at Walter Reed leave after IPA got the contract?
What is IPA doing for the $120 Million contract?
When Donald Rumsfeld found out from his wife that things were getting bad at Walter Reed, did he even bother to look into the problem?
We need the answer to these questions!!!!!!

The problems start when nobody know - we only find out when they are visible! This concept is clear! Like HIV, the first victim didn't know that he was infected! What we need to do now is to monitor how people solves the problems, not to blame the others without doing anything! Every administrations got its own problems, not just this one.

Yes, according to Republican logic, supporting the troops means putting a magnet on the back of your SUV if you're an ordinary person, and mouthing a few platitudes about our brave soldiers if you're a politician. That's why so many evangelicals feel at home in the Republican party. Their religion only requires them to say they're "saved", they don't have to do any good works be good Christians or good Republicans.

This is OUR problem . Not just the Republicans . Don't be fooled by left-wing rhetoric . Clinton did cut funding too, and that brings us to many other points, now doesn't it . Clinton's huge military budget cuts have had a long-term effect . Democrats were voting to close military bases left and right . Or did someone forget about that ? Like I said , it's OUR problem .

Who has congressional oversight over military hospitals? I believe there is plenty of blame to share, now let's see if libs can give up their partisanship by joining Bush in fixing the problem.

yeah we have freedom of speach , but say the wrong thing or a truth that hits the bush administration, and people get fired!!
truth is VA hospitals all over america are under funded and BUsh calls the current solders a peace keeping force ( not combat) so they will not get benifits or care from the va.

Speaking as an ex-Marine

You simply can't blame one administration on this. This has been going on long before our current president took office.

It only gets attention now because it is a political issue. Many of us have suffered through this for years so please don't insult us by pretending to care when it all of a sudden fits your political agenda.
