Honey, not one person here can evaluate and tell you what is going on with your husband without examing him and running some tests. If you are trying to get him help, you will take him to a doctor. You can't afford not to have him seen. Do you know how much more expensive it would be if you had to care for him because he was hit by a car and became disabled? Could you make it on your own with your kids if he was killed?

He needs a CAT scan of his head and a check by a neurologist or at least a family physician. This is a serious answer. He could have a physical problem that is causing mental symptoms. Hydrocephalus and tumors can cause personality changes. Have some compassion and get him some real help, please.

I suffered many incidents of total memory wipeouts. My aggression caused much embarrassment to me and my spouse. My dear husband had to endure much abuse, mental and physical.

When it became unbearable I went for an MRI scan and it was discovered I had a brain tumor. Have him tested. He really needs your tender, loving care now. Do not be too hard on him.

Good luck and don't delay.

Call a Mental Health Association in your area. A lot of times, organizations are available for clients to pay a sliding-scale fee. Do this ASAP, or he might not be as lucky as last time. He may have to be hospitalized for his own safety.

It sounds like somehow or another, you need to get your husband professional treatment. Other than that, you could probably go to the library or bookstore and do some research on your own on how to deal with your husband's mental illness.

The very first thing you should do is see a marriage counselor. If it's that bad, it's not a good sign if your first reaction is to ask about it on the internet.
