OK, I'm not 'up' on WTC 7. However, I work for a real estate firm whose clients develop office buildings amongst other things. I understand that there are two basic ways to build a skyscraper. One of those ways, used with the World Trade Center, is to build a frame then stack in floors like playing cards. Those would collapse exactly as occurred - straight down. Had they not, a lot more buildings would have been damaged.

I guess the public education system let everyone out now. We already answered this wonderful question this morning.

Read really, really slowly so this sinks in.
Airplane fly into building. Airplanes have lots of fuel. Fuel ignites. Paper and other material that is flammable in building catches on fire. Fire weakens metal building. Building collapses.

Turn off your computer and start doing your homework before they outlaw it. We want you to be smart tomorrow.

Several things contributed to WTC7 collapsing. It didn't free-fall and it took several hours for it to collapse. WTC 1 and 2 where hit at roughly 9a. WTC7 fell around 5p that day.

When WTC 1 and 2 collapsed, debris and parts of those buildings fell on WTC7. That debris cased damage to several key support structures in the building and caused fires. The failure of those key structures caused the entire building to collapse. If you had ever been in WTC7, you would have seen that the entrance lobby was actually a several story atrium. Key supports in that lobby were destroyed by falling debris. That's what brought the building down.

btw folks-- Planes did not hit WTC7 nor was there any jet fuel from them IN WTC7. The fires in WTC7 were from internal diesel tanks for UPS.

If this were meant as a serious question, it would be in science. Even so, I will give a serious answer.

Materials weaken at high temperatures. Steel gets soft. At extreme temperatures, concrete can decompose, leaving it with virtually no strength. The buildings didn't free fall, it took much longer than that.
