a very good question, but i feel the answer must be no. just because one person has experience in an area it does not always follow that they can influence another person with there knowledge. it is unto the individual to decide if they wish to use the knowledge of anther person or get their own experience which of course can be entirely different.

Of course, both influence and experience matter. The degree to which either may be more important differs with the situation.
You can do a lot to strengthen your experience through education and by voluntarily taking on extra responsibilities. More important, you can pay attention to the lessons you've learned and the expertise you have gained through work and education. It isn't enough that you have merely been exposed to new information and insights, but that you have gained some perspective and wisdom from these encounters.
You can also try to make influence count more for you. You can develop relationships, make yourself more pleasant agreeable with those whom you work for and work with. You can leave your personal problems at home and focus on your professional contribution at work.

I think experience is the best teacher, yet, it always isen't taken in as much as an influential person can be, the workplace is ideal for looking at this.
A Good competent manager can see whom in their workplace influences whom and why; a bad manager will allow any negative influences to dominate the workplace and will ignore what good experinced people are telling them; it happens too often as managers can be weak and simply want to go with the flow and not "distrupt" the workplace.
Rely on experience as Bull-**** can only last so long until good managment comes along.

Relative to the work environment] I used to think so - and maybe it does in some boardrooms...but my own experience in government showed me influence [playing the political game] rules the day and those with experience, proven track record, producer, etc etc can be run over by the less competent game player.
Having said that did I change my ways? NOT ON YOUR LIFE I remain wed to excellence, not to derriere kissing

I would think in some situations, but not a guarantee. Not having influence might hold you back despite experience in some feilds (politics, business deals).

i'd say so, I mean your parents can "influence" you or bias you by telling you everyday how amazing the food at a certain restaurant is but until you go there and try the food yourself how would you REALLY know if its good. In fact it may be horrible and all that 'influence' was incorrect.

Always assume that nobody knows you, so influence can fail sometimes. Experience on the other hand is applicable to all situations.

People of influence got there by experience. They seek out people with experience and surround themselves with people who are full where they lack.
There is no substitute for experience. It's what we do with it and how it's used.
Be blessed. Love you.
