the lingenfelter corvettes were not stock
The L-88 was fast for it's time but the the fast of all.
other then the new corvette, I would have to say the fastest vette was the 91 ZR1 I can not remeber the quarter mile times but 0-60 was like 3.9sec

The current Z06 2006-2007 is 505 h.p. with a top speed of 198. The ZR1 from 1990-1995 was the "King of the Hill" and the fastest Corvette but the Z06 has taken the crown.

According to all I have read on the current Z06 model, Chevrolet clames it is the highest performance car in Chevrolet history. In stock form I believe the car is lighter than the high horsepower models from the late 60's early 70's, and as the other poster noted horsepower ratings were not all that reliable.
The Lingenfelter Corvettes are not a factory option, therefore would not be a stock Corvette.

For stock, the fastest made (currently) is the 2007 Corvette Z06. This car is *stock* with the new 427 cu. in. LS7 V8, pushing out 505 hp. This car is an 11 second (quarter mile time) car right off the lot.

I know for a fact that the Vette Z06 is currently the fastest stock Vette ever. In 2009, they might be coming out with a Corvette SS. This Supercharged 6.2L V8 will feature a 650 HP engine. This new Vette will put to shame the already powerful Z06. Hope to see this and the new Camaro on the road shortly.

The 500bhp ZL1 could do 170mph. fast for it's time. Then the ZR1 could do about 175mph to 181mph. The Calloway twin turbo 191mph,The latest zo6 can do 199mph.So its the fastest stock corvette! The 1988 lingenfelter corvette reached 254.74mph!!! The fastest road production car. So my answer is the latest Z06.

The C6 ZO6 is the fastest stock corvette.The top speed has been mentioned,the fastest stock 1/4 time as of right now is 11 seconds flat for the new ZO6.

According to Chevy it is the new Z06.
Others have had higher hp ratings, but they were still limited by drag, tranny, and all which supposedly keeps them from being as fast stock.
Keep in mind that hp ratings for older cars are not accurate. They used to test the HP of the engine with straight pipes for the exhaust, which is not an accurate gauge.
