Is KFC a disgrace to southern cooking? I think Col. Sanders must be rolling over in his grave.

No, not a disgrace -- it's fast food fried chicken, not a true representation of southern cooking. KFC was show cased on the Food Network a couple months ago and come to find out Col. Sanders wasn't nearly as picky about his chicken as he was the gravy. Sometimes I don't think the chicken is that great, but I've never had a problem with the gravy.

I do remember it being a lot better back in the day than it is now. but to be fair I have never had real traditional Southern cooking, only KFC. Though I occassionally enjoy a stop at Kentucky Fried Taco (why would they combine Taco Bell and KFC, it's kind of gross!) I would have to say anything that produces something in mass quantities throughout the nation (world) would be a disgrace to the real thing. So yes, Chicken Capital USA is a disgrace to Southern cooking.

PETA is asking KFC to eliminate the worst abuses that chickens suffer on the factory farms and in the slaughterhouses of its suppliers, including live scalding, life-long crippling, and painful debeaking. The more than 850 million chickens killed each year for KFC are tortured in ways that would result in felony cruelty-to-animals charges if cats or dogs were the victims, but KFC still refuses to make changes. As the leader in the chicken industry, KFC has a responsibility to ensure that the chickens raised for its buckets are protected from the worst cruelties.

NONE of the locations use the Colonel's Original Recipe. there's only ONE copy of it at the company's corporate Headquarters in Chicago. I'm sure Col. Harland Sanders is turning over in his grave becuase of what the people did to his restaurant. He would of never went for the change in the recipe in '84. He would of never went for the Health Freaks in changing the restaurant's name to KFC in the late '80s. Most of all, he would of never went for them degrading the Bucket O' Chicken. I'm not a big fan of KFC unfortunately, becuase of how the folks have let it fall, from food quality to taste. However, I would of loved to taste some of the real Finger Lickin' chicken from back in the day.

Southern fried chicken and KFC are virtually indistinguishable. It is the people who don't care that manage or own the franchises that make the name look bad. Even though I personally don't eat the fried chicken there, lots of other items on the menu are tasty. Our restaurant is clean. We can see the areas where the food is prepared too. Maybe that makes a difference.

Fried chicken anywhere but your kitchen or grandmom's is a disgrace to southern cooking! Breading, batter, etc. None of that junk belongs on chicken. Just some seasonings, flour and a large cast iron skillet. Oh, we'll need some hot sauce and cornbread too!

I grew up on southern cooking and still cook that way today. KFC is not bad. When your hungry and in a hurry, it's great.

I wouldn't say a discrace, but the might $$ controls everything, even Col. Sanders

I use to love their chicken but they changed it so it would be bigger pieces but the problem with that is "BIGGER ISN'T ALWAYS BETTER". Just because the chicken pieces are better doesn't mean they have more meat on them. I think the quantity of meat on a chicken leg truly sucks.

I happen to like K.F.C.. I really like the original recipe. I think it has a nice spicy flavor, with a little bit of mildness to it. Take care, and best wishes.
