I am 20 weeks pregnant with my first and lately when I stand up (only when I stand) I have been having a pain in... well my butt... in between my vaginal area and the back. It hurts. It feels like pressure or like a pulled muscle. Is this normal or something I should be concerned about?

I actually didn't have pains like this until I was closer to having both of my children. My Dr. told me it was just pressure of the weight concentrated in one area. My baby had dropped and thats why the pain was in that area. I dont think that would be the reason in your case because you are only 5 months pregnant, but I dont think you should be concerned about it. If you are then just give your Dr. a call and ask. I hope this helps! BTW CONGRATS! Boy or Girl?

I actually think it's pretty normal. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have been experience a pain in that region as well but I feel it more when I finally relax to go to bed. I simply think it's just pressure and the body changing since there is a baby growing inside.

If this is still a major concern let your dr. know.

Its normal, sounds to me like the baby is laying on a nerve, called the sactic nerve, or something like that lol. Try google it, it will explain exactly what you are talking about. It hurts to be laying down and then try getting up, or when you are sitting and try get up walking. It really hurts and i had this too. Usually it goes away within 4-6 weeks. I had mine starting at 17 weeks and it went away FINALLY at 23 weeks. I went to a chiropractor and he did wonders :) Goodluck i know its painful!!

I had pain like that when I was 9 wks. I went to the hospital and they said it was muscle spasms. So go to the doctor with these concerns. It could be spasms, ligament pain, or practice contractions.
