Since new diesels have gained cats or particualte filters or whatever... they are really choking me. I am a keen cyclist - but also have asthma. When some peenarse in a new diesel something or other company car nails it past me, it smells like chlorine or some acrid acidic gas is coming out... It really screws up your lungs...
The old smoky diesels have no effect - - as if the carbon is retaining this rather noxious gas....

any ideas what is ruining my rides ???

When you jog, run bicycle, etc. your lungs expand. And, when the lungs expand, it is because the lungs are reacting to the need for more oxygen. Any and all car emissions car be unhealthy for anyone jogging on the side of the road as they will be breathing in the fumes from the passing vehicles.

It is better to bicycle away from the road. A park like setting would be perfect. Anywhere away from traffic including a hill for hiking or bicycling. Stay away from all traffic when bicycling and watch how you feel during the workout and after.

True or not i dont know...but i was told that the emission patriculates are now so small that our lungs natural filters are not small enough to stop them penetrating through in to blood streams and do more damage to our bodies than what the old engines did...food for thought
